Dubai and the UAE

A Dubai eSIM that routes your data via Europe

In the UAE, local SIMs and hotel Wi-Fi block WhatsApp and FaceTime calls. Our UAE plans connect to du but send your data out through Europe, and that is the one difference that counts: travellers using eSIMs like ours generally say their calls work.

Messages work on any network

In the UAE, WhatsApp messages, photos and voice notes go through on every network.

Calls usually go through

Since the data leaves through Europe, people report WhatsApp and FaceTime calls working. Switch hotel Wi-Fi off during the call.

You can skip the VPN

UAE law punishes manipulating IP addresses to commit or conceal an offence. On this eSIM, most travellers will never need to try.

Three small steps, then you are off

  1. 1

    Choose a destination

Look up a country or a region. Prices appear in your own currency.

  2. 2

    Install it at home

Scan the QR code before you leave. Nothing to swap, no SIM tray.

  3. 3

    Switch on when you land

Turn the eSIM on after landing and you are online. Your usual number stays in the phone for calls and messages.

Good to know

Does FaceTime work in Dubai on a travel eSIM?
Usually, since our UAE plans send data out through Europe. Nothing official confirms it, so have a licensed app ready as a fallback.
Can I send WhatsApp messages in Dubai?
You can, on every network and on hotel Wi-Fi. Local connections restrict only voice and video calls.
What calling apps does the UAE allow?
Gulf News listed licensed apps in 2024, among them BOTIM, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Google Meet, Webex and Slack.
